Xerxes & Inspector Morse

The highly popular TV series, Inspector Morse, was first aired in 1987. The series revolved around a brilliant detective (Chief Inspector Morse) also an avid music lover and somewhat of an audiophile who enjoyed classical music played on his cherished world class record player.

In the first full length episode (The Dead of Jericho) Morse was put in charge of a murder investigation that lead him to the very people behind the design of his much loved record player.

Roksan had launched its first record player Xerxes in 1985. Almost immediately it became the reference record player with many audiophiles. Granada TV contacted Roksan in 1986 to provide them with this ground breaking and world leading record player to feature in the Inspector Morse TV series. The Xerxes record player continued to feature throughout the series.

Inspector Morse episodes have been watched and enjoyed by millions in more than 80 countries. Thanks to John Thaw, one of the most popular and beloved actors in British Television history who sadly passed away in 2002, Inspector Morse has become a 'cult' series.
